Diwali Bonus Announced in UP: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced a major gift to state employees on the auspicious occasion of Diwali, announcing a bonus for the financial year 2024-25. The Chief Minister stated that this decision symbolizes the state government’s appreciation for the employees’ hard work and dedication. Government employees play a vital role in the state’s progress, and the government is committed to their welfare at every level.
According to an order issued by the Finance Department on the Chief Minister’s instructions, a productivity-linked bonus has been approved for state government employees. This bonus will be awarded based on a maximum monthly emoluments limit of ₹7,000, calculated based on 30 days’ emoluments, resulting in a benefit of ₹6,908 for each eligible employee. The Chief Minister said that this financial benefit before Diwali will bring joy and enthusiasm to the employees’ families and infuse new energy into governance and administration.
This decision will benefit approximately 1.482 million state government employees, with a total expenditure of approximately ₹1,022 crore. The Chief Minister has directed that the timely payment of bonuses to eligible employees be ensured so that all families can celebrate this festival with joy.
The scope of the bonus approved by the state government includes full-time non-gazetted employees whose posts are in the Pay Matrix Level 8 (₹47,600-₹1,51,100) (corresponding grade pay up to ₹4,800). This includes state employees, employees of state-funded educational and technical educational institutions, employees of local bodies and district panchayats, and in-charge and daily wage employees of government departments. It should be noted that the Government of India also decided to provide bonuses for the financial year 2024-25 on September 29, 2025.
Employees wrote a letter
Uttar Pradesh Class IV State Employees Federation State President Ramraj Dubey and State General Secretary Suresh Singh Yadav sent a letter to the Chief Minister. Suresh demanded payment of bonuses, salaries, and 18 months of DA for the COVID-19 period before Diwali.
