Full Emergency Declared at Ahmedabad Airport as Qatar Airways flight makes Safe Landing after Mid-Air Technical Glitch

There was a full emergency situation declared at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA) in the afternoon today after Qatar Airways Flight QR816 to Hong Kong from Doha was forced to make an emergency landing in Ahmedabad after the aircraft’s cabin pressure was lost mid-flight. Flight QR816, a Boeing 777, took off from the Hamad International Airport at around 9: 00 AM and took a mid-air deviation to Ahmedabad after the issue occurred at around 2:12 PM IST.

Emergency services were promptly put on alert and the airport declared the full emergency at around 2: 32 PM IST, and the flight landed safely at Ahmedabad Airport with all 230 passengers and 12 crew members safe onboard the aircraft. The full emergency at Ahmedabad Airport was withdrawn at 2: 38 PM IST after the successful landing and no flight operations were hampered in the process.

The full emergency was declared by the flight crew on Qatar Airways Flight QR816 after it was detected that the aircraft was facing issues with a sudden loss of cabin pressure mid-flight on 20 July 2022. The flight, a Boeing 777, took off from Hamad International Airport around 9: 00 AM and flew in the air before the deviation at around 2:12 PM IST. Emergency services and officials were put on alert at SVPIA while fire engines from Chandkheda Fire Station were sent to the Ahmedabad Airport, as a precautionary measure. The flight landed safely at 2: 32 PM IST and all the passengers and crew were safe onboard the aircraft.

The Airport Authority released an update at around 2: 38 PM IST that the full emergency at the airport had been withdrawn after the safe landing of the aircraft and all the operations were working. Qatar Airways engineers are in the process of inspecting the Boeing 777. Dreamliner for the cause of the problem before it is cleared for takeoff again to resume its journey to Hong Kong.
