'Kantara: Chapter 1' worldwide box office collection: Rishab Shetty-starrer to zoom past Rs 625 crore gross today
The blockbuster run continues for Kantara: Chapter 1 as it is maintaining a rock solid tempo on the weekdays too. The Rishab Shetty-starrer had a superstrong Monday as it held well across all circuits in India while also getting past Rs 100 crore overseas. On its 13th day (October 14), the trends continue to show a firm hold and it means that Rs 700 crore gross should be reached in the upcoming weekend.
In the core market Karnataka, Kantara: Chapter 1 is now competing with its predecessor Kantara for the all-time top grosser in the state - landmark that could be achieved on Day 13 if not Day 14. It already went past KGF 2's collections in Karnataka and is on course to become the first Rs 200 crore grosser in the state. The 12-day collections are at Rs 170 crore.
The Telugu states are also showing a strong trend although the film has been sold for reasonably high rates as well. After 12 days, the gross is Rs 88 crore and is steadily moving towards the Rs 100 crore mark in the state. The story is the same in Tamil Nadu where it has overcome a slow start to run riot at the box office.
After 12 days, Kantara: Chapter 1 has touched Rs 50 crore gross in Tamil Nadu might will face competition with a flurry of Diwali releases slated to release on October 17. However, the mythological epic is still expected to maintain stability, even if at lower levels, due to its excellent word-of-mouth and festival connect.
Kerala too has seen a phenomenal hold in box office collections as Kantara: Chapter 1 has nudged Rs 45 crore gross till October 12. Meanwhile, the Hindi version is also showing an excellent hold with the gross numbers being in the Rs 165 crore range as of Day 12.
