'They Call Him OG' worldwide box office collection update: Pawan Kalyan-starrer is a FLOP in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana

Pawan Kalyan's latest release They Call Him OG is nearing its theatrical run with the film having completed its tenure everywhere except in the native Telugu states. However, the irony is that it is here that the film is expected to incur the most losses.

 

Released on September 25, the action thriller has grossed Rs 280 crore worldwide in 18 days with the Rs 300 crore mark out of question. The Kalyan-starrer received mixed reviews upon release but there was a feeling that it would do reasonable business due to its mass masala template but the film dropped off drastically after the opening weekend.

 

The Telugu states have taken the biggest hit with the rights valued to be around Rs 137 crore. The film's gross till October 12 is reported to be around Rs 187 crore with a share of approximately Rs 110 crore. That would mean an overall loss of Rs 27 crore currently. Also, with each area sold separately, they would also be reporting individual losses except , perhaps, Nizam.

 

Ideally, the film needed to gross above Rs 225 crore from the Telugu states to break-even for the distributors. There was a lot riding on this film for the stakeholders but unfortunately, the Kalyan-starrer nosedived after a strong initial weekend. Overseas, Karnataka and in Rest of India, the film will be profitable for the distributors.

 

The overseas business is where the film is making the most profit with rights valued at Rs 18 crore and the gross currently at Rs 65 crore.
