Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway UPDATE: Kanpur-Lucknow Expressway: Providing commuters with a big relief, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has hinted that the work on the Kanpur-Lucknow Expressway is almost complete and only minor works remain. It means that commuters will soon be able to use the highway and reach their destination in less time.

When Is The Expected Completion Date For Kanpur-Lucknow Expressway?

As per officials familiar with the project, the final tasks are expected to be completed between in first or second week of December. After the completion of the work, the process of inauguration will take place.

How Much Travel Time Kanpur-Lucknow Expressway To Reduce Between the Cities?

The Kanpur-Lucknow Expressway, once operational, will drastically reduce travel time between the major cities. As per reports, installation of monopoles is already underway and the remaining work will be completed by December. The trial run of the newly made highway will be conducted before the inauguration to ensure smooth operations.

This expressway is going to connect two major cities of Uttar Pradesh – Lucknow and Kanpur – in the Awadh region. The government has designated a 63-kilometre-long, six-lane-wide, highway as the National Expressway 6 (NE 6).

The proposed expressway runs alongside NH-27, which currently connects Kanpur and Lucknow with an estimated distance of about 85 km, separating the current road from the planned one.

The Kanpur-Lucknow Expressway will start from its junction with NH-27 near Shaheed Path (Lucknow) and will connect Bani, Kantha, and Amarsas. It will end near Azad Marg in Kanpur, connecting Udyog Path.

How Many Toll Plazas Will Be Built The Route?

As per reports, a total of five toll plazas will be built on the route. These plazas will be built in Miranpur Pinwat, Khandedev, Bani (Lucknow) and Lalganj (Amarsas village) in Unnao.

The state government is planning to provide compensation of Rs 800 crore to farmers through land acquisition. It is worth noting that the expressway passes through 42 villages located in Lucknow and Unnao.

The Lucknow and Kanpur are designed to be expandable to eight lanes and are expected to reduce travel time between the two cities to 35-40 minutes. The current travel time is 1.5-3 hours.
