Samba police solves highway attack case; arrests 6 persons, recovers stolen material

SAMBA, Oct 15: Continuing its decisive crackdown on anti-social elements indulging in violence and theft, Samba Police has solved a major case of attack, loot and vandalism at a National Highway Construction site falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Bari Brahmana.
Police said on October 13 a written complaint was lodged by one Sudhir, son of Manphool, authorized representative of Shivalaya Construction Limited, regarding a violent incident that occurred during the intervening night of October 12-13, at Chainage Number 506+000 near village Sarore. According to the complaint, a mob of 10–15 unidentified individuals attacked the company’s project site around 12:15 am, pelting stones and assaulting on-duty guards and workers with sticks and rods. The attackers damaged CCTV cameras, lighting systems, vehicles and other site infrastructure, including a Camper vehicle (Registration Number JK21K-1954), and also looted valuable construction materials.
Police said acting swiftly, a case under FIR No. 168/2025 was registered at Police Station (PS) Bari Brahmana under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, main six accused persons were apprehended for their involvement in the incident. The arrested individuals have been identified as Sadiq Ali, son of Teg Ali, Mushtaq Ahmed, son of Kasam Din, Gulab Din alias Gaya, son of Murid Ali, Mohammed Farooq alias Bothu, son of Laiqat Ali, Bagh Hussain son of Laiqat Ali (all residents of Sarore Adda, Bari Brahmana) and Mohammad Shareef, son of Mohammad Mirza of Phallan Mandal district Jammu, presently residing at Sarore Adda, police said.
It said during sustained questioning, accused Mushtaq Ahmed, Gulab Din alias Gaya, Mohd Farooq alias Bothu, and Mohd Shareef confessed to their involvement in the crime and revealed the concealment locations of the stolen goods. Acting on their disclosure, Samba police recovered a substantial quantity of stolen construction materials from the residence of Mohammad Farooq alias Bothu. More recoveries were made based on disclosures by accused Mohammad Sadiq and Bagh Hussain from a concealed site near Shamshan Ghat, Sarore Adda. Further investigation of the case is going on, police said.
The arrests were made by a team led by SHO PS Bari Brahmana under the supervision of SDPO Bari Brahmana and under the overall supervision of SSP Samba Virinder Manhas.
