WATCH | Prithviraj Sukumaran unveils stylish first glimpse from Vysakh's 'Khalifa'

It's been exactly three months since production commenced on Prithviraj Sukumaran's upcoming film Khalifa, directed by Vysakh. On the occasion of the Malayalam superstar's birthday on October 16, the makers released the first promo titled 'The Bloodline', which gives us a stylish, blood-soaked glimpse of a fight sequence that the actor shot in London. It's the kind of sequence that screams "international" and recalls action blockbusters like John Wick.

In the film, Prithviraj plays a character named Aamir Ali who is described as "untouchable". Prithviraj and Vysakh have previously worked together in Pokkiri Raja. Vysakh is also known for directing Pulimurugan, starring Mohanlal.

Scriptwriter Jiinu Abraham, who worked with Prithviraj in Kaapa, Adam Joan, and Kaduva, is producing the film under the banner of Jiinu Abraham Innovation.

Composer Jakes Bejoy, who scored numerous Prithviraj films such as Ranam and Ayyappanum Koshiyum, is reuniting with the actor again in Khalifa. Another frequent collaborator of Prithviraj, Jomon T John, is the director of photography. Khalifa is slated as an Onam release next year.

Prithviraj's immediate upcoming release is Vilayath Buddha, which is expected to hit theatres in November, as per the buzz. A teaser was released by the makers earlier. It is directed by Jayan Nambiar, a longtime associate of the late Sachy, who had directed Prithviraj in Ayyappanum Koshiyum. Sachy was first supposed to direct it, but due to this untimely demise, Nambiar took over.

Prithviraj also has Rorschach director Nissam Basheer's I, Nobody in his upcoming lineup. The film has Parvathy Thiruvothu as the female lead. It is backed by Supriya Menon under the banner of Prithviraj Productions in association with Mukesh Mehta and CV Sarathi of E4 Experiments.
