University of Delhi holds interactive awareness programme on new rules for foreign students
The Foreign Students Registry (FSR), University of Delhi (DU), organised an interactive awareness programme on “New rules and procedures for foreign students” on Thursday. The session aimed to update stakeholders on the latest regulatory changes concerning the admission, registration and administration of international students.
The event witnessed participation from over 100 college principals, deans, heads of departments, administrative staff and staff associated with foreign student admissions at the DU.
Addressing participants, Prof Yogesh Singh highlighted the university’s commitment to strengthen its global reputation and ease administrative procedures for international students. He emphasised on the importance of internationalisation in higher education and the commitment of the DU in supporting its growing foreign student community. He hoped that this event today would be beneficial for all stakeholders attending the programme.
Congratulating the new Dean, Prof Rupam Kapoor, he said, “I hope that she will bring many new positive changes in the structuring of admission of foreign students.”
Deepak Yadav, in his detailed presentation, discussed registration formalities, visa and hostel procedures, and compliance requirements under the newly enacted Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, and Immigration and Foreigners Rules, 2025, effective from September 1, 2025.
“As Bharat goes towards the aim of being a Viksit Bharat we will see more influx of foreign students in Indian universities,” said Yadav.
The programme successfully underscored the DU’s continued efforts to build an inclusive, transparent and student-friendly environment for its international community.
