UAE announces new category for Golden Visa for people promoting…, to allow people to get long-term residency in the country; All you need to know

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has introduced a new Golden Visa category that will allow people who donate to Waqf (charitable endowments) to get long-term residency in the country. According to officials, this new visa which is meant for “financial supporters of humanitarian work,” shows the UAE’s strong commitment to promoting kindness and social welfare.

The visa was launched after an agreement between the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs i.e. Dubai (GDRFA-Dubai) and the Endowments and Minors Affairs Foundation (Awqaf Dubai) on Friday.

Under this plan, Awqaf Dubai will recommend both residents and non-residents who qualify for the visa based on their contributions to humanitarian causes. Once approved, Dubai authorities will issue the Golden Visa to those nominees.

A joint team from both organizations will track how the program is carried out and make sure it meets its social goals.

“This partnership supports Dubai’s aim to be a global hub for compassion and generosity, and to strengthen cooperation among institutions working to make the city more sustainable and people-focused,” the GDRFA said.

The UAE launched the Golden Visa program in 2019 to attract wealthy investors from around the world, since foreign nationals cannot gain citizenship there. Over time, the program has expanded to include skilled professionals, talented individuals, and outstanding students.

The UAE Golden Visa allows eligible people to live in the country for up to 10 years with multiple-entry residency. Holders can also sponsor their family members, including their spouse and children of any age.

Earlier this week, the government announced that Golden Visa holders will now receive consular support from the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs when they travel abroad — just like Emirati citizens do.
