Delhi traffic LATEST update: Fresh advisory issued over Travis Scott concert and Diwali, urges commuters to avoid THESE routes

Delhi faced heavy traffic jams on Friday as the festive season led to a sharp rise in the number of vehicles on the roads. Long lines of cars moving slowly or not at all caused major delays, leaving many commuters stuck for hours. Traffic congestions were reported in key intersections and prominent areas in the capital, including Moolchand flyover, Chanakyapuri, Teen Murti Marg and ITO as the city gears up for Diwali on October 20.

To handle the situation, the Delhi Traffic Police cancelled all staff leave until Chhath Puja, except for emergencies, so that more personnel could be deployed on the roads.

Massive traffic hits key areas: Routes to avoid

  • Moolchand Flyover
  • ITO Junction
  • Chanakyapuri
  • Teen Murti Marg
  • Bhera Enclave Chowk
  • Mathura Road from Badarpur to Ashram Chowk
  • IFFCO Chowk and Delhi-Gurugram Highway

The Delhi Traffic Police have also issued a new traffic advisory ahead of rapper Travis Scott’s “Circus Maximus World Tour” concert at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium this weekend. Large crowds are expected near the venue, with around 50,000 to 60,000 people attending the event on October 18 and 19.

“An expected footfall of 50,000–60,000 spectators per day may cause heavy traffic around the stadium. To manage this, detailed traffic arrangements and diversions will be in place to ensure smooth movement and public convenience,” the Delhi Traffic Police said on their official X (formerly Twitter) account.
