Light to moderate rain, with isolated heavy falls, is expected throughout the week in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe, and South Interior Karnataka. Lakshadweep is expected to experience thunderstorms on October 18th, coastal Karnataka from October 18th to 23rd, and coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema on October 18th, 22nd, and 23rd.
According to the department, storms with strong winds of up to 30-40 kmph are likely in many areas of South India for the next five days. Winds may reach 40-50 kmph in some areas on October 22nd and 23rd.
