INDIA bloc suffers another shock in Bihar; Congress leader resigns claiming RJD is controlling party

In what comes as another setback for the Mahagathbandhan in Bihar, which has been facing significant internal issues primarily centered on seat-sharing disputes, and "friendly fights" between the allies in some constituencies, a prominent local Congress leader resigned, claiming that his district has been neglected.
Saran District Congress Committee president Bachchu Prasad Biru resigned from the post and primary membership of the party. He cited the constant discrimination faced by the Congress in the INDIA bloc and the neglect that his district has been facing as the reasons for his exit.
In his resignation letter to the Congress top brass, he pointed out that the party was not given a ticket in any of the 10 assembly constituencies—Ekma, Manjhi, Baniyapur, Taraiya, Marhaura, Chapra, Garkha, Amnour, Parsa, and Sonpur—in his district, causing resentment among party workers.
He reportedly said this was the case in the 2020 polls as well, and the district was ignored. According to him, the grand alliance has also ignored Dalits, minorities and those belonging to backward classes.
"I joined the party because of Rahul Gandhi, but after years of efforts and hard work in Saran district, we did not get a single seat here; therefore, I decided to leave. Congress here is being controlled by the RJD," he was quoted as saying after his resignation.
The last day for filing of nomination papers for the second and final phase of the Bihar assembly polls was on Monday. The elections to the 243-member Bihar assembly will be held in two phases—November 6 and 11. The counting of votes will take place on November 14.
