In India, corruption isn’t limited to ministers, bureaucrats, police, and customs officials are increasingly accused of harassment and bribery, making interactions with government agencies a painful experience. From municipal officers amassing crores to the arrest of a Punjab DIG hoarding 7.5 crore in cash and gold, citizens are growing frustrated with the growing Inspector Raj. Even airports, once considered professional, are not immune. Plain-clothed customs officials at Delhi Airport have been accused of rude, intimidating behavior, targeting ordinary passengers and families while claiming to be on anti-smuggling duty.
