Youths perform firecracker stunts on Gurugram roads, videos go viral

On Diwali night, several incidents of dangerous stunts involving firecrackers were reported across Gurugram. Youths were seen performing hazardous acts on major roads including Dwarka Expressway, Bajghera Border, Bijwasan Flyover, Sohna Road and the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway. Videos of the incidents quickly went viral on social media, prompting a police investigation.

The most alarming scenes came from the Dwarka Expressway, where some individuals were seen placing firecrackers on the roofs of moving vehicles and setting them off, endangering other road users. In one instance, an SUV mounted an elevated divider and was left dangerously teetering — though, fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Similar stunts were reported on Sohna Road and the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway, where young riders and drivers were seen misusing firecrackers and performing reckless stunts on both bikes and cars. Many participants recorded the incidents and shared the footage online.

“These incidents were brought to our notice through videos circulated on social media,” said a spokesperson for Gurugram Police. “We are currently scanning social media accounts and identifying vehicles based on registration numbers seen in the clips. Strict action will be taken as per the law.”
