Spirit not a standalone film? Prabhas-Triptii Dimri's flick to conclude on suspenseful note: Report

The collaboration between Tollywood Rebel Star Prabhas and director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has already set high expectations, and their upcoming project Spirit is adding to the excitement. The film with Vanga at the helm, is said to be an intense cop drama. While the announcement of Triptii Dimri coming on board as the leading lady after Deepika Padukone’s abrupt exit generated immense buzz across the industry, new reports hint that Spirit could be more than just a standalone film.
A Cliffhanger Ending in the Works?
While reports suggest production is expected to begin in February 2026, according to the latest development Spirit might mark the beginning of a new cinematic franchise.
According to a report by Mid-Day, conversations within the production team suggest that Spirit may end on a nail-biting note, teasing audiences with the promise of a follow-up.
A source close to the film revealed, "The makers are planning to build a world centred on Prabhas’s cop. They are exploring whether the first part can end at a cliffhanger and leave the audience eager for what comes next."
The idea of ending with an open climax reportedly aligns with Vanga’s vision of developing a sprawling cinematic universe around the character of a police officer, portrayed by Prabhas. With discussions around an open-ended climax already underway, Spirit appears poised to become the starting point of a gripping new saga in Indian cinema.
Filming Schedule and Locations Revealed
Prabhas is expected to commence shooting for Spirit once The Raja Saab releases in theatres on January 9, 2026. The first leg of filming will reportedly take place in Mumbai, after which the team plans to move to overseas destinations including Mexico, Indonesia, and Thailand.
The source further shared to the portal, "A look test was done some time ago, and the makers have zeroed in on two distinct avatars for Prabhas. There is a flashback scene, which will be shot in the Mumbai leg."
These dual looks are said to define two distinct phases of the protagonist’s journey, offering fans a deeper emotional and visual experience.
Meanwhile, Triptii's casting has added fresh energy to the project, and fans are eager to see how her chemistry with Prabhas unfolds in this intense drama.
