Bengaluru live-in couple found dead at home, police suspect suicide after quarrel

Bengaluru: A shocking incident has come to light where a couple from Bengaluru were found dead at their home on Monday. The couple was allegedly in a live-in relationship, and the incident happened in South Bengaluru’s Jigani.

The two identified individuals are Seema Nayak of age 25, and Rakesh Nayak, of 23. They are both natively of Odisha. The former worked at a supermarket and the latter at a security services firm. The incident was reported by the neighbours after detecting a foul smell with no movement from the house. As a result, the investigation started. The initial investigation is hinting at the issues related to Rakesh’s worsening drinking habit, which led to frequent fights between the couple.

The incident was reported on Tuesday morning when an increasing foul smell alerted the neighbours. As a result, the house owner had to check through the ventilator and saw the two hanging.

What’s the police saying?

An investigating officer said that the crime scene hinted at Rakesh committing suicide before Seema by hanging from the room’s ceiling fan. He further mentioned that it’s most likely that Seema saw him hanging and committed suicide later after noticing him dead. The police haven’t mentioned recovering any notes that can help in solving the case.

What can be the possible reason?

A friend of Rakesh and Seema, named Jora Nayak, stated that Rakesh had a serious drinking addiction, which Seema didn’t approve of. In addition, Rakesh suspected Seema of having an affair with another man, as he told Jora that Seema had been transferring the money to some other man.

One of the friends left the rented house in South Bengaluru’s Jigani on Friday after Seema and Rakesh got into a quarrel.  The police are still investigating the matter and have sent the bodies for a post-mortem procedure.
