Trump administration targets Biden after 'illegal' truck driver Jashanpreet Singh causes deadly crash killing 3 in California

Jashanpreet Singh, the 21-year-old truck driver held for killing three in a tragic vehicle collision in California, reportedly reached the United States "illegally" in 2022. Singh was reportedly released from a detention centre pending immigration proceedings under the Biden administration's policy favouring illegal immigrants.

Three people died and four, including Singh, sustained injuries in a tragic collision on 10 Freeway in Ontario, California, on Tuesday. The massive collision involved four semi-trucks, two pickup trucks, and two cars, causing fiery wreckage and major traffic disruptions on the highway, CNBC reported.

According to reports, Singh was "driving under the influence of drugs", and he never applied the brakes. Eyewitnesses said the Freightliner tractor-trailer, which Singh was driving, ploughed through the slow-moving traffic on the freeway, leading to a multi-vehicle collision. CHP Officer Rodrigo Jimenez said, “He was eventually transported to the hospital, and he was checked out by the medical staff, and our officers determined he was driving under the influence of drugs."

The crash footage from the truck's dashcam showed the truck slamming into an SUV, triggering a fire that killed at least three people. According to the US's ICE, Singh did not have a valid immigration status, and it has lodged an immigration detainer following his arrest, Fox News reported.

According to reports, Singh was first encountered by Border Patrol agents in California's El Centro Sector in March 2022 and was later released into the interior of the country pending an immigration hearing. He was released under the Biden administration's 'Alternatives to detention' policy.

In a similar incident in August, Harjinder Singh, a 28-year-old commercial truck driver, was detained by law enforcement agencies in the US for vehicular homicide. Three people died in an accident involving Singh's truck. Allegedly, Singh entered the country illegally.
