Rs 20000000: 74-year-old man pays massive ‘bride price’ to marry 24-year-old woman; he hails from…

The world is indeed full of surprises and peculiarities. Every day brings stories that seem stranger than fiction. And a recent event in Indonesia proved it. A 74-year-old man has made headlines for marrying a woman 50 years younger than him, offering an astonishing bride price as part of the ceremony.

According to media reports, Tarman, the groom, awarded his 24-year-old bride, Sollha Arika, the staggering amount of 3 billion Indonesian Rupiah (approximately Rs 1.8 crores or USD 215,000) as bride price.

The lavish wedding took place on October 1 in Pacitan Regency, East Java province, where the groom presented his bride, 24-year-old Shela Arika, on stage with a significant cash gift. What made the event even more unique was that instead of traditional gifts, each guest received cash — around 100,000 Rupiah (approximately Rs 6,000) — making the celebration truly one of a kind.

According to media reports, the wedding videography team revealed that they were initially told the bride price would be one billion rupiah (around US$60,000), but during the ceremony, the amount was unexpectedly “increased” to three billion rupiah.

Shortly following the wedding celebration, members of the photography team took to social media, purportedly accusing the newlyweds of abandoning them and disappearing after their work, leaving them without payment and ending their line of communication. Within a short span of time, rumors began to circulate online, declaring that Tarman not only left his vendor without payment, but he also fled on a motorcycle owned by the family of his bride.
