'Dark Winds' Season 4 premiere date out: Zahn McClarnon to make directorial debut

AMC has announced the fourth season of their acclaimed thriller series Dark Winds. Zahn McClarnon returns as Lt. Joe Leaphorn, to tackle a new case in an eight-episode season set for premiere on February 15, 2026. A first-look teaser has been released.

McClarnon, who executive produced the series with George R.R. Martin and the late Robert Redford, will also make his directorial debut with this season.

His co-stars include Kiowa Gordon (The Red Road, Roswell, New Mexico) as Jim Chee, Jessica Matten (Rez Ball, Tribal, Burden of Truth) as Bernadette Manuelito, and Deanna Allison (Accused, Edge of America) as Emma Leaphorn.

The fourth season will track the Navajo Tribal Police as they search for a missing Navajo girl, while venturing into a previously unexplored territory, 1970s Los Angeles, to seek the whereabouts of, and apprehend, a maniacal killer who has taken her hostage.

The new season will also see fresh cast members. The official cast list is as follows: Franka Potente (Run Lola Run, The Bourne Supremacy), Isabel DeRoy-Olson (Fancy Dance), Chaske Spencer (The Twilight Saga, Blindspot), Luke Barnett (The Crossing Over Express) as FBI Special Agent Toby Shaw who arrives searching for answers to a mystery involving one of his friends; and Titus Welliver (Bosch, Bosch: Legacy, Ricky, Abraham’s Boys) as Dominic McNair, a ruthless crime boss who imports and exports drugs and stolen luxury goods into and out of Los Angeles, among others.

Based on Tony Hillerman's popular 'Leaphorn & Chee' book series, Dark Winds is created by Graham Roland, with John Wirth as showrunner.
