Sambalpur tragedy: Youth found dead after sending emotional message to ailing mother

The body of a youth was recovered from the Chipilima power channel in Odisha’s Sambalpur district on Saturday after an extensive search operation by Burla police and fire service personnel. The deceased has been identified as Saurabh Sambit, a resident of Bolangir.
According to reports, Saurabh had travelled to VIMSAR Hospital in Burla to seek treatment for his ailing mother, who is suffering from a serious illness.
He was missing for two days before the recovery of his body. On Wednesday night, Saurabh reportedly left the hospital premises without informing anyone. Later, he is said to have sent an emotional message to his mother, expressing his intention to end his life.
Police have registered a case and begun an investigation into the incident
Search Operation Conducted by Police and Fire Services
Based on the message, a search operation was initiated. However, the body was only recovered after it surfaced on Saturday. The deceased’s body was then sent for post-mortem examination.
It is suspected that Saurabh may have jumped into the Chipilima power channel after learning that his mother’s condition was unlikely to improve. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear.
