Unseasonal rain exacerbates problems
The weather in Ahmedabad suddenly changed on Sunday night. Dark clouds covered the sky late in the evening, and by nightfall, rain arrived. Heavy rain fell in many areas, leading to waterlogging on roads. Cool winds and lower temperatures brought relief to those suffering from the heat, but meteorologists have warned that more heavy rain is possible in many parts of the state in the next 48 hours.
Farmers in tension
As night fell, the sky turned and heavy rain began in Botad district. The rain that continued late last night has increased the worries of farmers. Major crops like cotton, peanuts, sorghum, and millet are nearing harvest, but weather disturbances could ruin their hard work. Waterlogging in the fields is increasing the risk of damage.
Light to moderate rain continued throughout the night in several locations in Botad district, including the villages of Adrala, Lakhnaka, Gadhali, Chiroda, Sajanavadar, Vanali, Bodki, and Raniyala. Drizzle also continued in rural areas of Barwala, Ranpur, and Botad talukas. Farmers say that if the rain does not stop, major damage to Kharif crops is certain.
