'Thamma' worldwide box office collection Day 7: Ayushmann Khurrana-Rashmika Mandanna starrer suffers huge drop
The alarm bells are ringing for Thamma as it is set to witness a significant crash on its first Monday at the domestic box office. The weekend trends also showed the warning signals with Sunday eventually reporting a lesser number than Sunday.
The six-day extended weekend for Thamma has come to Rs 87 crore nett - an extremely below-par figure for a big-budget film that has released for Diwali. Friday saw collections in the Rs 9.50 crore nett vicinity while Saturday's figures of Rs 13 crore nett seemed like a positive result although the jump should have been higher.
On Sunday, the film should have ideally gone past Rs 15 crore nett as a bare minimum but it has eventually collected close to Rs 12.50 crore nett, a drop from Saturday's figures. With these trends, a Monday crash was inevitable and that is precisely what has happened to Thamma.
The horror-comedy took a very low opening in the morning shows which detected a 5 percent drop from Sunday while the afternoon shows have dropped further by 20 percent. It must be noted that the ticket prices are also lower now with the festival season completely over across the country.
As per early estimates, Thamma is heading towards a Rs 5-6 crore nett on Monday. It is a drastic fall in collections and even a lifetime of Rs 150 crore nett now seems to be a distant dream for the film. Ayushman Khurrana's biggest hit so far is Dream Girl which collected Rs 140 crore nett in India back in 2019.
Six years later with massive surge in ticket prices, horror-comedy franchise and festival release, Thamma is set to fall short of that, unless a miracle occurs in the coming days. The seven-day collections in India for Thamma are set to be around Rs 92-93 crore nett.
Overseas, the film grossed only Rs 15 crore in its opening six days, making it a disastrous opening for the film. The seven-day worldwide gross of Thamma will be Rs 130 crore (approximately).
