THIS actor was a real-life hero, once challenged the underworld alone and roamed freely without security, his name is…, last appeared in…
In the golden era of Bollywood, many actors came and went, but there were only a few rare gems whose charm and heroism transcended beyond the silver screen. One such tale is of a veteran actor who not only was the iconic hero in blockbuster films, but was every bit of a hero in real life too. Known as Hindi cinema’s He-Man, the actor that we are talking about is none other than Dharmendra.
Actor-director Satyajit Puri recently revealed some incredible anecdotes that show that Dharmendra was not just a superstar but a real-life hero who wasn’t afraid of anyone.
When Dharmendra Dared the Underworld
Back in the day, the underworld had a severe impact on Bollywood; they tried to assert their influence on the industry. While most stars chose silence, Dharmendra stood tall and fearless. Satyajit Puri shared that when underworld operatives once tried to threaten the veteran actor, Dharmendra responded with a fearless warning:
“Agar tum aaye, toh pura Sanehwal (Punjab) aa jayega. Tumhare paas 10 aadmi hain, mere paas fauj hai. Ek shabd kahunga toh truckon mein bharke log aa jayenge ladne. Mujhse panga mat lena.”
His bold statement not only exuded his courage, but after his warning, no one dared to cross him again.
When a Fan Attacked Him With a Knife
In another shocking moment, Dharmendra was once attacked by an obsessed fan with a knife. Unlike any other person, who would panic or call for help, Dharmendra overpowered the attacker himself within seconds. Satyajit Puri also shared that, unlike today’s stars surrounded by multiple bodyguards, Dharmendra and his contemporaries like Vinod Khanna often roamed freely without security.
When He Saved a Falling Horse on Set
However, Dharmendra’s courageous tales were not just limited to confrontation. On the sets of Ghulami, he insisted on performing a risky horse-riding stunt himself. Despite being warned about the marble stairs on set, he went ahead. Midway, the horse slipped, but Dharmendra used his sheer leg strength to steady it and prevent a serious accident. Although he fell on the ground, he did not lose his composure.
Dharmendra’s legacy
Even at 89, Dharmendra continues to shine on screen. He last appeared in Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, where his role made quite an impact. Dharmendra, known for his fearless nature, humility, and strength, is not just a star who has portrayed the role of a hero, but also lived like one
