Pune’s techie arrested over terror links, was planning terror strikes in…, he is follower of Al-Qaeda’s Osama Bin Laden

Pune: A software engineer in Maharashtra’s Pune was arrested earlier this week for allegedly having contacts with the terrorist organisation Al-Qaeda. The arrest was carried out by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Monday, after which some of the possessions of man were recovered. One of the items included an Urdu translation of Osama Bin Laden’s speech. The arrested man in the matter is identified as Zubair Hungargekar. The squad has also seized pictures in which Zubair is seen using the AK-47 rifle and making bombs. He is in police custody and was allegedly participating in multiple anti-national activities. 

Who’s the arrested man?

The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) arrested Zubair Hungargekar under the pretext of having links with Al-Qaeda. He’s a software engineer who hails from Maharashtra’s Solapur. Having a good educational background, he has strong knowledge of software testing along with database development. He worked in the IT industry as a software developer in Kalyani Nagar.

He has been under constant supervision for a month, which led to his arrest in Kondhwa under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. He is taken into custody by the police until November 4. The police stated that he was involved in various activities promoting anti-nationalism and was planning to conduct terror strikes in several cities of Maharashtra.

What did Zubair possess?

After the arrest of Zubair Hangargekar, the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has seized some pictures in which he is allegedly seen using an AK-47 rifle and building bombs. The recovered evidence in the case points out the certainty of more individuals involved in the matter.

Some days ago, the concerned authorities carried out large-scale raids in almost 25 locations around Kondhwa. This was done in relation to a terror-funding case. After the arrest of Zubair, materials possessed by him hinted at his suspicious activities.
