Bihar Assembly Election: Rajnath Singh says NDA will offer ‘fitting tribute’ to Nehru by…, says RJD ‘defamed’ Bihar with…
Bihar Assembly Election: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has expressed confidence that the incumbent NDA dispensation will secure a two-thirds majority in Bihar, which will serve as a “fitting tribute” to India’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his birthday on November, the day poll results will be announced.
RJD ‘defamed’ Bihar
Addressing a poll rally at Barh in Patna district, Rajnath Singh accused the RJD of “defaming” across the world during its infamous “jungle raj”, and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has been largely been successful in “undoing damage” inflicted in that era.
Alluding to the Rashtriya Janata Dal’s rule in Bihar, Singh said Bihar does not need “goonda raj”, and claimed that the Opposition alliance want to secure votes of Bangladeshi infiltrators. “The issue in clear in Bihar Assembly Election– whether the state will be taken back to the days of “jungle raj” or remain on the path of development,” he asserted.
The defence minister also lashed out at the Congress-RJD combine for “attacking” the Election Commission, asking “how will democracy run if constitutional bodies are defamed”.
Taking a dig at RJD chief Lalu Yadav, Rajnath Singh praised Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, asserting that no corruption allegations have been leveled against the Janata Dal (United) supremo in 20 years, while the entire family of a former CM is accused of corruption.
‘NDA will fulfill all promises in manifesto’
Earlier in the day, addressing a poll rally in Darbhanga district, Rajnath slammed the RJD for making an “unrealistic promise” of providing a government job to each household in the poll-bound state, announcing that the incumbent NDA will release their manifesto on Thursday, and “implement every single word in it”.
Singh also lambasted the opposition of making “false promises” of undoing amendments to the Waqf Act, noting that the law was passed in Parliament, and states do not have the power to amend central laws.
The BJP veteran said his party does “fair and clean politics”, and does not indulge in politics of caste and religion, noting that the Narendra Modi government had allocated Rs 15 lakh crore for the all-round development of Bihar in the last 11 years.
“It was PM Modi, not Rahul Gandhi, who gave constitutional status to the OBC commission,” he said.
Bihar Assembly Election will be held in two phases on November 6 and November 11, with the counting of votes to follow on November 14.
