Second ‘Balti confluence’ on Nov 2

The second Balti confluence is set to take place in Kargil on November 2. It will be organised by the Himalayan Cultural Heritage Foundation (HCHF).

The confluence is being held with joint efforts of Sonam Wangchok, who is the founder of HCHF, and Mohammad Sadiq Hardasi, Balti historian and scholar. The confluence is a platform to celebrate and safeguard the Balti language, literature, traditions and culture.

HCHF founder said the Balti confluence is a community initiative, brought to life through the collective support, love and contribution of the Balti people. Balti community has presence in Ladakh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Pakistan.

“Following the success and warm appreciation of the first Balti confluence held in Uttarakhand in 2023, this year’s gathering promises to be even more special. Organised by HCHF in collaboration with the Association of Baltis in Himalayan Ladakh and Territories of Indus (ABHLTI), the event will bring together Balti scholars, writers, poets, researchers and cultural enthusiasts under the theme,” Wangchok said.

The confluence will serve as a space for meaningful dialogue, sharing ideas, experiences, and dreams for the future of Balti heritage.
