SWR Conducts Sensitization Session on Ethical Public Procurement Practices & Cyber Security and Cyber Hygiene

A sensitization session on “Public Procurement” was organized as part of Vigilance Awareness Week–2025 at Rail Soudha, South Western Railway Headquarters, Hubballi on Wednesday. The session was graced by V. Ramachandran, Retired Director General, RDSO, who attended as the Chief Guest.

In his keynote address, Ramachandran elaborated on the critical aspects to be observed while handling tenders related to public procurement. He emphasized the importance of transparency, accountability, and proper documentation, urging officers to record reasons for every decision taken on file. Highlighting the significance of Vigilance Awareness Week, he noted that the initiative aims to foster vigilance consciousness and integrity across the organization. He further urged all officers to act as “Public Auditors”, ensuring fairness and probity in every action.

P. Ananth, Additional General Manager, South Western Railway, in his address, echoed the principles of ethical decision-making highlighted by Ramachandran. He remarked that a truly ethical decision is one that is legal, fair to all parties involved, and one that an individual would not be ashamed of if made public.

Later in the afternoon, a sensitization session on "Cyber Security and Cyber Hygiene: Safeguarding Government

Institutions" was conducted by Signal & Telecommunication (S&T) Department of South Western Railway in

collaboration with the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS).The seminar aimed to reinforce the importance of robust Cyber Security practices and promote a culture of Cyber hygiene among Railway personnel to protect critical government digital infrastructure.

These sensitization sessions was attended by SDGM & CVO A. Annadurai, Principal Heads of Departments, Senior Officers, and employees. Divisional Railway Managers of Mysuru, Hubballi, and Bengaluru joined through video conferencing.
