Starlink services may start soon in India, demo to be held in Mumbai today and tomorrow
Starlink is nearing another milestone towards the launch of its services. The company will be demonstrating its service in Mumbai today and tomorrow.
American billionaire Elon Musk’s company, Starlink, will be demonstrating a demonstration in Mumbai today and tomorrow. The company will provide satellite internet services in India and will demonstrate its compliance with security and technical requirements through this demonstration. Starlink has received provisional spectrum in India, and this demonstration will be based on that provision. Officials from law enforcement agencies will also be present during the demonstration. It’s worth noting that the demonstration is necessary to obtain approval before the company can launch commercial services.
What will be shown in the demonstration?
According to reports, Starlink will conduct this demonstration at a pre-determined location in Mumbai. Through this, the company will comply with the security requirements of the Lawful Interception System and Lawful Interception Monitoring, as well as the technical conditions of the Global Mobile Personal Communication by Satellite Authorization. Starlink is pursuing a target of 600Gbps capacity. This capacity of the Gen 1 constellation will enable the company to provide 100,000 connections. The Department of Telecommunications has recently granted Starlink provisional spectrum to verify security standards.
Starlink to Build 9 Satellite Centers
Recently, news emerged that Starlink will establish 9 satellite stations in India, including Mumbai, Chandigarh, Noida, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Lucknow. This will help provide high-speed internet to users.
Strict conditions imposed on Starlink
Starlink wanted to bring in foreign technical experts to operate its stations, but the government made it clear that only Indian citizens would operate these stations until the company received security clearance. It also required that all data generated during the trials be securely stored in India. Furthermore, the company would be required to submit a report to the Department of Telecommunications every 15 days, including station locations, user terminals, and the specific locations of users.
