Karnataka Viral Video: Karnataka police said that in a video viral on social media, BJP leader Vijugouda Patil’s son Samarthgouda and his friends assaulted a toll booth employee. The viral video shows them using abusive language.
Karnataka Viral Video: On October 31, the son of a Bharatiya Janata Party leader and his friends assaulted and abused a toll booth employee at a toll booth on the Vijayapura-Kalburgi Highway in Karnataka when they were asked to pay. The incident was recorded on CCTV and then went viral on social media. Police said the incident allegedly took place in Kannoli on Thursday (October 31).
Police said that in a video that surfaced on social media, Samarthgouda, son of BJP leader Vijugouda Patil, and his friends assaulted a toll booth employee. They are seen abusing during the incident.
According to police, Samarthgouda and his friends were travelling from Vijayapura to Sindgi in a vehicle. When they were stopped at the toll booth and asked to pay the toll, Samarthgouda allegedly told the employee, “Do you know who I am? I am the son of BJP leader Vijugouda Patil.”
He said that when the employee allegedly asked, “Who is Vijugouda?”, Samarthgouda and his friends assaulted and abused the employee, as seen in the video.
Other toll booth employees intervened and prevented the situation from escalating. Police said that toll employee Sangappa was injured in the incident and was taken to the Sindgi Taluka Hospital. A senior police officer said, “We have not yet received any complaint from the toll employees in this regard.”
When other toll employees tried to intervene, another person in the car joined the goons in the fight. Police said the injured employee, identified as Sangappa, was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.
Police sources said no complaints have yet been filed by toll employees or officials. Despite attempts by police to persuade them to do so, the employees reportedly refused, saying they frequently face such harassment and could not afford to file a police complaint.
