Demolition drive at five illegal colonies in Yamunanagar
A team of the Town and Country Planning Department carried out a demolition drive in five unauthorised colonies in two villages of Yamunanagar district in the past two days.
The team led by District Town Planner (DTP) Rajesh Kumar demolished a network of several earthen roads and damp proof courses in three unauthorised colonies at Tejli village, falling under Jagadhri tehsil.
He said that those three unauthorised colonies were spread over about five acres.
He further said several unpaved roads were demolished in two unauthorised colonies in Rajpur village, falling under Sadhaura sub-tehsil. He said the area of those two unauthoriaed colonies was about 14 acres.
“Our team removed a network of all earthen roads and 13 damp proof courses in three unauthorized colonies in Tejli village and unpaved roads in two illegal colonies in Rajpur village,” said DTP Rajesh Kumar. He said the demolition drive was carried out in the presence of duty magistrates and the police force provided by the SHO of Haryana State Enforcement Bureau, Yamunanagar.
He said notices were issued to the defaulters as per rules under the Urban Area Act/Controlled Area Act, but the defaulters did not comply with the department orders.
“The land owners and other involved persons did not take necessary permissions before establishing these illegal colonies and carrying out construction work. Therefore, a demolition was carried out on these unauthorised colonies,” said DTP Rajesh Kumar. He appealed to the public not to purchase or sell any plots in any illegal colony.
“If anyone is found developing an illegal colony or constructing a building, they will continue to take action against such persons in future too as per the rules,” said Rajesh Kumar.
