69th National School Games conclude; J&K Wushu athletes shine

SRINAGAR, Oct 31: The 69th National School Games in Wushu (Under-17) concluded today at the Indoor Sports Complex, Wazirbagh, Srinagar, organized by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, J&K, showcasing a thrilling finale and remarkable talent from across the country.
Jammu & Kashmir athletes delivered stellar performances, making the Union Territory proud on home ground. Among the girls, Jiya Manhas emerged as a star, clinching Gold in the 48 kg category and earning the title of Best Player of the Girls’ Section, while Rutba Shabir secured Silver in the 65 kg category, demonstrating skill, determination and competitive spirit. In the boys’ section, J&K athletes dominated several weight categories, with Kapish Bharat Rakwal winning Silver in 52 kg, Suryansh Singh clinching Gold in 65 kg, Mohd Arhaan Parray Gold in 70 kg, Mohd Haseeb Sheikh Gold in 80 kg and Sajad earning Bronze in 75 kg. These achievements highlighted the rigorous training, dedication, and talent nurtured under expert coaching in the Union Territory.
The championship, which saw participation from over 40 teams from across India, witnessed electrifying bouts, tactical skills, and exemplary sportsmanship. The Directorate ensured top-class facilities and accommodation at the Government College of Physical Education, Ganderbal, for athletes, coaches and officials. Officials, coaches and team managers lauded the outstanding performances of J&K athletes, noting that their success inspires the youth of the region to pursue excellence in sports.
