To compete with AI-powered smartphones, tech giant Apple is gearing up for a deeper leap into artificial intelligence. The US-based company’s CEO Tim Cook stated that the company is mulling joining hands with more AI partners. In an interview with CNBC, Cook stated that the company is planning to expand its integration with other AI players. It means that the tech giant is planning to make Apple Intelligence more flexible and far-reaching in the coming months.
Why Tim Cook Has Made The Announcement Now?
As per reports, iPhone 17 series sales hit record levels. This has helped the company to close the fiscal year in the green zone despite global market challenges. Cook stated that strong demand for the company’s smartphones and early success of Apple Intelligence features, including the iPhone 16 lineup, were major reasons for the tremendous result.
Currently, Apple Intelligence uses both Apple’s own AI models and ChatGPT to run features like smarter Siri conversations, visual insights and writing tools on company’s devices like – iPhone series, iPad, and Mac.
In future Apple can join hands with other major players in the AI world. Earlier, Apple Senior Vice President Craig Federighi stated that the company is planning to bring support for other models, including Google’s Gemini.
Backstage, Apple is planning something big. As per earlier reports, the company is planning to introduce Model Context Protocol (MCP) for its platforms. Anthropic’s MCP allows smoother communication between AI models, apps and tools.
Biggest Update To Take Place In Siri
Cook said that the next-generation Siri is all ready to launch in 2026. The upgraded Siri will be powered by Apple Intelligence.
The updated assistant was supposed to launch with iOS 18 in 2024 but Apple delayed. In the meantime the company improved its AI systems. It’s now expected to arrive next year.
The upcoming version is expected to be more intelligent, capable in deeper contextual understanding, multi-step task execution, and smarter app integration — major areas where Siri is dominated by Google Assistant and ChatGPT-powered bots.
