CM Saini launches state-level blood donation camp in Panchkula
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday inaugurated a state-level blood donation camp in Panchkula to commemorate the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Teg Bahadur, highlighting the profound spiritual and social significance of the act.
The event, held at Kisan Bhawan, Sector 14, coincided with Haryana Day celebrations.
The CM described blood donation as “a true service to humanity” and a fitting tribute to the revered Sikh Guru, whose martyrdom epitomised sacrifice, courage and the protection of religious freedom.
Saini lauded the participation of young volunteers, describing them as “the vanguards of a compassionate and progressive Haryana”.
Health Minister Arti Singh Rao reiterated the state’s commitment to strengthening public health services, particularly blood banking infrastructure. “Haryana has 152 licensed blood centres, including 34 government-run facilities, of which 26 are equipped for blood component separation and 12 have platelet apheresis units,” she said. “Timely availability of safe blood can make the difference between life and death.”
She added that Haryana continues to lead in promoting voluntary donation. According to the state health department, more than 800 people donated blood across 39 camps held statewide on Friday, including over 150 donors in Panchkula.
Meanwhile, to mark Haryana Day, the Institute of Town Planners, India (ITPI) organised a seminar on ‘Technology Driven Urban Transformation: Shaping Resilient Cities’ and a national photography exhibition titled ‘City Through Your Lens’.
