There’s big news for employees. Union Labor and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya launched the Employee Enrollment Scheme 2025 on Saturday. The scheme aims to encourage employers to voluntarily enroll all their eligible employees in the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO).

The scheme came into effect on November 1, 2025

This scheme came into effect on November 1, 2025. Under this scheme, if an employer has not previously deducted the EPF contribution from an employee’s salary, they will no longer be required to pay that contribution. Only a nominal penalty of ₹100 will be required. The Labor Ministry stated that the scheme aims to formalize the workforce in the country and promote ease of doing business.

EPFO is not just a fund, it’s a symbol of trust.

During the event, Minister Mandaviya said, “EPFO is not just a fund, but a symbol of India’s workers’ trust in social security. It is important to advance it with efficiency, transparency, and sensitivity.” He added, “The impact of every reform should be directly visible in the lives of workers, and this will only happen if we implement changes in simple language and a clear system.”

EPFO 3.0 Platform to Launch Soon

Central Provident Fund Commissioner Ramesh Krishnamurthy stated that the EPFO 3.0 platform will be launched soon, which will make operations faster, more transparent, and accessible. He added, “New initiatives like the simplified withdrawal process and the Vishwas Scheme have made compliance easier for employers. Our focus is to strengthen trust, increase coverage, and make every employee a partner in progress.”

EPFO’s New Digital Features

Recently, the EPFO has launched several new services, including a centralized pension payment system, Aadhaar and face authentication, and an updated Electronic Challan-cum-Return (ECR) system. These will provide digital and seamless service delivery to over 70 million subscribers.

Major Goal for PM Rojgar Yojana

Labor Secretary Vandana Gurnani stated that the EPFO is playing a key role in implementing the Prime Minister’s Vikasit Bharat Rojgar Yojana (PMVBRY). This scheme is a major step towards creating 35 million new jobs in the country and strengthening formal employment.
