Jailer 2 is eagerly awaited by audiences and is releasing next year. Superstar Rajinikanth will reprise his role as “Tiger” Muthuvel Pandian in the 2023 sequel to the blockbuster, along with Yogi Babu, Ramya Krishnan, and Kannada star Shiva Rajkumar. Nelson Dilipkumar, known simply as Nelson, directed the first part and is also directing the highly anticipated sequel. Jailer 2’s cast includes newcomers S. J. Suryah, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Mithun Chakraborty.
Reports have confirmed that Vidya Balan, who won the National Film Award for Best Actress for The Dirty Picture, will also make her Tamil cinema debut in this Rajinikanth-starrer. Previously, she played a small role in the 2019 legal action drama Nerkonda Paarvai, an official remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s 2016 Hindi film Pink.
Shooting Underway in Chennai
According to a Hindustan Times report, Vidya will play Mithun Chakraborty’s eldest daughter. Mithun is the main villain in the film and will be seen opposite Rajinikanth. The film is currently being shot in Chennai, and post-production work will begin by January. After completing the Chennai schedule, the team will head to Goa for the remaining two months of shooting, starting in late October. After the Coolie star completed the Kerala schedule of the film last month, several paparazzi spotted him at the Chennai airport.
When is Jailer 2 Releasing?
Rajinikanth had previously stated that Jailer 2 would be released in theaters in June 2026. However, several media portals claimed that the superstar had given the correct release date as June 12, 2026. A source close to Rajinikanth’s team denied that the Petta actor had revealed the sequel’s release date. Jailer was released in 2023 and was a superhit. Now, a sequel to this film is on the way. Rajinikanth will be seen in action mode, and Mithun Chakraborty will also play a key role.
