Konkan Railway Marks the Completion of Special Campaign 5.0 with Emphasis on Clean, Safe and Passenger-Centric Operations
Konkan Railway successfully concluded Special Campaign 5.0, organised by the Ministry of Railways from 16th September to 31st October 2025, aimed at strengthening cleanliness, promoting public participation, improving service delivery, and reinforcing a culture of responsibility across railway premises. The campaign was implemented in two phases, focused cleanliness activities followed by intensified public outreach and feedback-driven engagement.Under this campaign, a series of initiatives were undertaken across stations, offices, training institutions, and community spaces on the Konkan Railway network, promoting the message of collective responsibility and environmental stewardship.
Santosh Kumar Jha, Chairman & Managing Director / KRCL, has emphasised the importance of responsible digital practices, timely administrative action and a clean and service-oriented work environment across the organisation. In alignment with this vision, Special Campaign 5.0 placed focus on the safe and collaborative use of digital platforms, streamlined disposal of pending files and grievances, and intensive cleanliness drives across stations, offices, colonies and work sites. The campaign also promoted greater citizen participation through passenger interaction initiatives, enabling feedback based service improvements. These activities collectively reinforce Konkan Railway’s ongoing commitment to efficiency, transparency and a passenger-centric approach to public service.
Across the duration of the campaign, a series of initiatives were carried out across the Konkan Railway network to reinforce cleanliness, sustainability, efficiency and community participation. At Konkan Rail Vihar, Nerul, Santosh Kumar Jha, CMD/KRCL, along with Smt. Manisha Jha, Chairperson KRWC & SSA, Directors, officials and members of KRWC & SSA, participated in Prabhat Pheri, Shramdaan and Tree Plantation drive. A similar tree plantation activity was conducted at Ratnagiri, led by CMD/KRCL along with senior executives, promoting environmental consciousness and collective responsibility.
Under Special Campaign 5.0, KRCL implemented creative “Best out of Waste” initiatives, such as a cattle guard fabricated from 100 mm GI pipes at Thivim Station and the distribution of paper bags at Ratnagiri Station to discourage the use of single-use plastics. Awareness campaigns in collaboration with Lions International District 317B, MES College, and IPHB Goa included rallies and skits at Madgaon and Karmali Stations under UNSDG #3, spreading messages on cleanliness, hygiene, mental health and public well-being.
As part of ‘Swachhata Hi Seva 2025’, multiple cleanliness drives and pledge activities were held across the Ratnagiri and Karwar regions and at the Corporate Office in Belapur. Officers, employees, families, and students participated in these efforts, reaffirming their commitment to a cleaner and greener environment. The Ratnagiri Health Unit additionally organized initiatives such as “सफाई मित्र – सुरक्षा शिविर”, vaccination drives, ANC check-ups, and counselling sessions, further promoting health and hygiene awareness.
Several community and station-level cleanliness drives were undertaken at various stations, including Ratnagiri, Chiplun, Verna, Balli, Kumta, Mookambika Road Byndoor, Barkur, Udupi and at Konkan Rail Academy, Madgaon, encouraging civic responsibility and participation among staff, trainees, and students. Routine inspections and monitoring of hygiene practices were also carried out to ensure cleanliness standards and enhance passenger experience. The ‘Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath’ Shramdaan activities saw enthusiastic involvement from employees and their families, strengthening teamwork and social responsibility
Additionally, several ‘Amrit Samvaad’ passenger interaction sessions were held across the region, where RRM/Ratnagiri and RRM/Karwar, along with senior officials, spoke directly with passengers about station facilities, travel comfort and service quality. During these sessions, housekeeping staff were also appreciated and felicitated for their hard work in keeping stations clean. These interactions helped strengthen open communication, encourage feedback and highlight Konkan Railway’s focus on serving passengers better.
The campaign may conclude, but its guiding principles continue across Konkan Railway. Cleanliness, efficiency, and responsible service remain integral to our work culture, reflected in our commitment to extend Sadar Seva to passengers.
