MeitY Unveils India AI Governance Framework with Key Principles and Roadmap

India has released its AI Governance Framework, outlining a risk-based approach to regulating artificial intelligence. The 68-page guidelines focus on human rights, safety, transparency, and fairness while encouraging early internal safeguards for developers. The report proposes new oversight bodies, sector-specific regulation for high-risk uses, mandatory rules over time, and national monitoring of real-world harms.
