Ahmedabad plane crash: SC seeks Centre's response on Air India pilot father's plea for judicial probe
The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Centre, DGCA, and others on a plea filed by the father of the late Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, Pilot-in-Command of the Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner that crashed in Ahmedabad in June, killing 260 people. The plea seeks a fair, transparent, and technically sound investigation monitored by a retired judge. Addressing the father, the Court said, “It’s extremely unfortunate that this crash took place, but you should not carry this burden that your son is being blamed... Nobody can blame him.” Justice Surya Kant added, “No one in India believes it was the pilot's fault.”
