‘They came from ponds': 40 crocodiles rescued from Haridwar homes and fields
Freshwater crocodiles, mostly juveniles, have been rescued from homes and farmlands in Haridwar and Laksar this monsoon, causing fear among residents. Officials believe these reptiles, now adults, originated from local ponds and reservoirs, entering residential areas in search of food. Villagers are concerned for their children's safety and have requested that rescued crocodiles not be released back into the Ganga.
