77 Years, Still No Bridge: Villagers Boycott Polls In Bihar's Gaya

As Bihar votes on promises of vikas and mahila shakti, NDTV's Tejshree Purandare reports from the Morhar river basin in Gaya, where development has never crossed the river. Across the Morhar live over 8,000 residents who have waited 77 years for a bridge that could connect them to schools, hospitals, and markets. For eight months every year, the villages remain cut off from the mainland. Frustrated by broken promises from leaders and governments alike, villagers have decided to boycott the polls - saying, "No bridge, no vote."
