Two of India’s most wanted gangsters, Venkatesh Garg and Bhanu Rana, who both operated abroad, were arrested in the US and in Georgia. Indian Security officials said that the Garg was arrested in Georgia, while Rana was arrested in the United States.
Both gang members will be deported to India soon, NDTV reported. Officials from multiple security agencies, including the Haryana police, called the arrests a significant success.
Sources also said that more than two dozen indian gangsters lived and operated abroad, where they run extortion and smuggling rackets after hiring operatives in India.
Who is Venkatesh Garg?
Venkatesh Garg is a resident of Narayangarh in Haryana. He fled India and was operating and living in Georgia, and has more than 10 criminal cases registered against him in India. He was also wanted for the murder of the Bahujan Samaj Party BSP leader in Gurugram.
According to the report, Garg was recruiting youth from Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, and other north Indian states. He was also running an extortion syndicate in partnership with Kapil Sangwas, who is also based overseas.
Bhanu Rana
Bhanu Rana is from Karnali in Haryana. He has been associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang for a long time. He has multiple cases registered against him across Haryana, Punjab, and Delhi. He was also associated with a grenade attack in Punjab after his name surfaced through associates.
In June, the Special Task Force (STF) from Karnal arrested two men who were in possession of hand grenades, pistols, and ammunition. When they were questioned, they admitted that they acted on the instructions given by Rana.
Authorities are saying that the arrests have exposed a wider network of Indian gangsters running operations in India after using foreign bases.
