IPL 2026: Former domestic player warns CSK against trading Ravindra Jadeja for Sanju Samson

In what could become one of the most talked-about moves of the IPL off-season, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are reportedly exploring a swap deal involving Ravindra Jadeja and Sanju Samson. The trade, if finalized, would send shockwaves across the cricketing fraternity with fans torn between loyalty and the need for fresh leadership.

CSK Eyes Samson as Dhoni’s Successor

With MS Dhoni’s future uncertain, CSK is said to be on the lookout for a long-term replacement behind the stumps. Reports suggest the team has identified Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson as the ideal candidate to take over the mantle. Samson too is reportedly open to a change after years with the Jaipur-based franchise.

However, the proposed deal could come at a steep emotional cost, the departure of Ravindra Jadeja, one of CSK’s most iconic figures and key pillars of success over the past decade.

“Don’t Let Go of a Legend,” Says Ex-Cricketer

Former Indian domestic cricketer Priyank Panchal voiced strong opposition to the rumored trade. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, “Trading Jadeja bhai for Sanju could be one of CSK’s biggest mistakes. You don’t let go of a legend who has served so selflessly and helped win multiple titles.”

A Team at the Crossroads

Following a poor IPL 2025 campaign, where CSK finished bottom of the table, the franchise is under pressure to rebuild. While acquiring Samson could bolster their batting and wicketkeeping depth, losing Jadeja would leave a massive void in spin and leadership.

As CSK weighs its options, the debate deepens between legacy and renewal, which path will define the next era of the Super Kings?
