Employability skill workshop held at SMVDU

KATRA, Nov 9: The School of Computer Science and Engineering (SoCSE), in collaboration with the Training and Placement Office of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), organized an Employability Skills Workshop in association with SkillDzire.
The primary objective of the workshop was to enhance students’ professional skills and prepare them for future employment opportunities through focused training on communication, resume building, and interview preparation.
The workshop was graced by Prof Balbir Singh, Dean, Academic Affairs, as the chief guest; Dr Sunanda Gupta, Head, Department of Computer Science and Engineering; Dr Baijnath Kaushik, Co-Convener and faculty members of School of Computer Science and Engineering.
The expert speaker, Pawan Samireddy from SkillDzire, conducted the workshop online and engaged the students in an interactive five-hour session. The first half of the workshop focused on email etiquette, resume writing, formatting guidelines, and cover letter preparation, while the second half included mock interviews, STAR answering techniques, body language improvement, and group discussion practice.
Samireddy also provided personalized feedback on students’ resumes, helping them identify areas for improvement. Additionally, he shared valuable insights on how to stay motivated, build self-confidence, and maintain a positive attitude during placement drives and professional challenges.
In his address, Prof Balbir Singh emphasized the significance of such workshops in complementing academic learning and shaping the overall professional development of students. He highlighted that employability-focused training sessions play a vital role in ensuring students’ readiness for real-world challenges.
Anuj Mahajan, Organizing Secretary and Convener of the event, presented welcome address as well as the vote of thanks.
The workshop concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, wherein participants enthusiastically discussed their learning and experiences.
