Masterstroke by Gautam Adani as his company announces entry into Battery sector, set to become world’s largest single-site BESS installations
The Adani Group on Tuesday unveiled its entry into the Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) market with an ambitious 1,126 MW / 3,530 MWh project which is set to become one of the largest single-site BESS installations globally and the biggest in India. The project, which will include more than 700 BESS containers, is scheduled for completion by March 2026.
In a statement, the Group said the initiative marks a key step forward in India’s renewable energy roadmap, bolstering the nation’s energy security and enabling continuous delivery of clean power. The project is designed to strengthen grid stability, manage peak demand, ease transmission bottlenecks, and minimise solar power wastage.
Located at Khavda, the site of the world’s largest renewable energy complex, the deployment is already in its advanced stages. The lithium-ion-based storage system will be paired with cutting-edge energy management technologies to ensure optimal efficiency, safety, and reliability.
