Faridabad explosive seizure: Arrested Pulwama doctor’s family responds, says ‘we are Indians by heart’

The family of Muzammil Ganaie, a Kashmiri doctor who was arrested after 360 kilograms of explosives were recovered from his rented room in Faridabad, claimed he was not involved in terror activities.

 

Azad Shakil, brother of Muzammil, said they were unaware of the police action and asserted that his brother was a “good person”.

 

"It is being alleged that he is a big terrorist. We have no knowledge of it. For the past five decades, there has been no case against anyone from our family," Shakil told PTI news agency.

 

He further claimed that their family had been targeted earlier by stone-pelters for being “nationalists”.

 

"We are completely Indians and we have taken stones for India. You can verify it from anyone in the village," he said.

 

Muzammil is a doctor at the Al Falah University, which also houses a hospital on its campus. According to reports, he rented the room for Rs 1,200 a month one-and-a-half months ago.

 

Wanted in a case involving putting up posters supporting the Jaish-e-Mohammed in Srinagar, Muzammil was arrested in a joint operation by Haryana and Jammu and Kahmir Police.

 

His arrest came a day before the high-intensity blast near Delhi's Red Fort in which at least 12 people lost their lives.

 

Delhi Police and central agencies probing the suspected links between the blast and the Faridabad terror module.
