CCTV Footage: At least eight people were killed and several others injured in a high-intensity explosion near the Red Fort in the capital on Monday evening. The incident occurred near the Subhash Marg traffic signal, where a Hyundai i20 car exploded.

According to sources, Delhi Police has obtained CCTV footage showing the suspect’s car entering and exiting the parking area. Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect was alone at the time. Investigators are now tracing the route towards Daryaganj and examining over 100 CCTV clips to trace the vehicle’s entire movement. The scope of the investigation also includes footage from the toll plaza near the incident site.

The car remained parked in the parking lot near the Red Fort for three hours.

Delhi Police have registered a case under various sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Explosives Act, and the Indian Penal Code in connection with the blast. The Kotwali police station is investigating the case under sections 16 and 18 of the UAPA and the Explosives Act.

Crime Branch team arrived within 10 minutes

Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that teams from the Delhi Crime Branch and Delhi Special Branch arrived at the scene within 10 minutes of receiving information about the incident. He said, “The Delhi CP and the Special Branch in-charge are also present at the scene. We are investigating all possibilities and will conduct a thorough investigation into all aspects. The results will be presented to the public.”

Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha stated that the explosion occurred when a slow-moving vehicle was stopped at a red light near the Red Fort Metro station. The blast also damaged several nearby vehicles. FSL and NIA teams are investigating the scene.

Police are now searching for the suspect, and given the seriousness of the matter, security has been increased across the city.
