Who is Dr Nisar ul Hassan? Al Falah doc who went missing after Red Fort blast was sacked by J&K LG over terror links

After three doctors linked to Al Falah University in Faridabad, Haryana, were arrested over the deadly Red Fort blast, more terror links connecting the varsity have emerged on Wednesday. Reports revealed that a professor dismissed by the Jammu and Kashmir administration over terror links two years ago was later hired by Al Falah allegedly without proper background checks.

Dr Nisar ul Hassan was dismissed by the Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in November 2023 under Article 311(2)(c) of the Constitution for alleged links with Pakistan-based terrorist organisations. After terror links connected multiple Al Falah doctors to the Red Fort blast, Dr Nisar went missing and is untraceable. The blast on November 10 has killed over a dozen people and injured several others.

Dr Nisar ul Hassan was serving as an assistant professor of medicine at the Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) Hospital in Srinagar before he was sacked. Later Al Falah hired him as a professor in the Department of Medicine. He hails from Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir.

An order issued by the J&K administration in 2023 stated, "The Lieutenant Governor is satisfied under sub-clause (c) of the proviso to clause (2) of Article 311 of the Constitution of India that, in the interest of the security of the State, it is not expedient to hold an enquiry in the case of Dr Nisar-Ul-Hassan, Assistant Professor (Medicine), SMHS Hospital, Srinagar."

Al Falah University, based in Dhauj, Faridabad, has refuted any links to terror outfits. Spread across 70 acres, the varsity was established by the Al Falah Charitable Trust in 2014. It received UGC recognition in 2015 and has an A grade NAAC accreditation. It also operates a 650-bed Al Falah Hospital.

The terror accused allegedly plotted to carry out a 26/11 styled terror attack in Delhi, according to top security sources. Their initial plan to carry out the attack during Diwali failed and later postponed it for Republic Day, said reports.
