400 paintings showcased at Kala Kendra

JAMMU, Nov 12: An exhibition of paintings by students of classes 4th to 5th titled “Mitthu Ki Azadi” organised today at Kala Kendra, Bikram Chowk, Jammu.
This programme was the part of the Wildlife Painting Competition 2025.
Painting Exhibition mithu ki Azadi was organised by The Himalayan Avian in collaboration with Kala Kendra Jammu and J&K Wildlife Protection Department Jammu.
Regional Wildlife Warden Jammu Jyotsna was the chief guest, who inaugurated this two day long exhibition in which more than 400 paintings of different styles of parakeets made by students were showcased.
“Mitthu Ki Azadi” a campaign of The Himalayan Avian to aware people to give up their old habits of caging parakeets, was launched by Guldev Raj.
Jyotsna showed keen interest in these paintings and tried to understand the feelings of students,who expressed in the papers, . Later, addressing the students, Regional Warden said that the initiative students had undertaken would definitely yield results. 200 students pledged to convince people of surrounding communities to abandon the habit of keeping parrots caged.
On this occasion, Guldev Raj, who is also a Member of the J&K wildlife board, made the students well aware of the world of birds.
On this occasion, Dr Taran Singh, Prof Ashok Kumar, Sham Lal Bassan, Virender jit Singh, Brij Mehra, CM Sharma and Rajeev Katoch were present.
