Handler codename Ukasa, NPK fertiliser: Probe reveals Delhi suicide bomber Dr Umar Un Nabi’s activities

Dr Umar Un Nabi, the suicide bomber who executed the blast in the white Hyundai i20 car outside Red Fort on Monday evening, had been communicating with someone based in Turkey, codenamed Ukasa. Dr Umar had also visited Ankara and stayed there for two weeks, according to the initial investigation.
The handler was the primary link between the Faridabad-based module and the handlers of the Jaish-e-Muhammed (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH), according to the Times of India.
Officers had earlier confirmed that Dr Muzammil Shakeel Ganaie, one of the doctors arrested, had accompanied Dr Umar Un Nabi to Turkey in 2022. The duo didn’t attend the medical conference, but rather to meet the JeM handlers. The investigators have received data that confirms this from Dr Muzammil’s phone.
Police believe it was Ukasa who guided Dr Umar and Dr Muzammil on how to establish a covert cell and avoid digital footprints. “Their conversations had initially started on Telegram and later shifted to encrypted apps like Signal and Session,” an officer told TOI.
The Turkish handler is also said to have played a key role in shaping the module's plan to carry out a series of terrorist attacks in India. They even bought three cars, including an i20, for the operation. Of the other two, the red EcoSport is in police custody. The Maruti Brezza is still missing.

Further investigation also revealed that Dr. Umar created a group on the Signal app before the blast and added four people to it. Dr. Muzammil, Dr. Adeel, Dr Umar, and Dr Shaheen had collected approximately Rs 20 lakh rupees in cash. This money was handed over to Umar. They subsequently purchased over 20 quintals of NPK fertilizer worth Rs 3 lakh rupees from Gurugram, Nuh, and surrounding areas to prepare the IED. There are also reports of a financial dispute between Dr. Umar and Dr. Muzammil.
