In yet another significant move in its push towards developing AI infrastructure in India, billionaire Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries– India’s most valued domestic firm– will set up a state-of-the-art 1 GW Artificial Intelligence Data Center in Andhra Pradesh.

Reliance to build ‘future ready’ AI data centre in Andhra

In a post on X on Friday, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said the Mukesh Ambani-led company will build ‘future-ready’ AI data center in the state, which will operate as a twin to Reliance’s Jamnagar facility.

“Reliance will set up a 1 GW Artificial Intelligence Data Center in the state, a fully modular, future-ready facility designed to host the world’s most advanced GPUs, TPUs, and AI processors. It will operate as a twin to their gigawatt-scale AI Data Centre in Jamnagar, together forming one of Asia’s strongest AI infrastructure networks,” Naidu wrote.

6 GWp solar power plant to power Reliance’s AI facility

The chief minister revealed that Reliance will also build a 6 GWp solar power project in Andhra Pradesh to power the its 1 GW AI facility, and the solar power plant will double the state’s current ground-mounted solar capacity, contribute over 30 percent of the renewable energy, and unlock AP’s vast solar potential.

Additionally, Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance will also develop a Greenfield Integrated Food Park in Rayalaseema, a world-class automated facility which will generate several thousand direct and indirect jobs and create sustained income opportunities for thousands of families, Naidu said.

“Heartfelt thanks to Shri Mukesh Ambani, Chairman, Reliance Industries Limited, for these landmark announcements, which mark a new milestone in Andhra Pradesh’s journey of innovation, clean energy leadership, and inclusive growth,” he said.

The chief minister met PMS Prasad, Executive Director & Member of the Board, RIL and other senior officials of the multi-billion dollar conglomerate at the CII summit in Visakhapatnam.

Reliance announces mega partnership with Google

Meanwhile, in October, as part of its AI push, Reliance announced its partnership with tech giant Google to boost AI adoption in India, and introduced a slew of collaborations in the AI space, including free Google AI Pro access to Jio users.

In a release, Reliance announced that its subsidiary, Reliance Intelligence Limited, and Google have inked an “expansive strategic partnership” with Google to accelerate AI adoption in India, in line with the company’s “AI for All” vision.
